• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

01 - Introducing Segment PRO!

I was trying to print the summary plans in Segment Pro and if I alter the order of the different types of wood used by changing the order of the columns the program crash when I tell it to print. If I leave the columns in the default order it prints fine. Anyone else had this problem?

Jose what version of the program are you running. The latest is 1.1.024. If you are not using this version, Lloyd has made some major changes in the summary report. You should download and install it.

Hello! Please give a hint - what does the line Lgth in table Summary? How can I use its value?

What is the latest version of Segment Pro? Thanks!

I'm new, just downloaded the sw yesterday. When I open Segment Pro I cannot see all 4 windows (profile view, detail, Cutaway and bowl settings) simultaneously like in the tutorial. I have to scroll up and side to side to see each window. I expected either a "fit to screen" setting or to be able to grab the edge of each window to resize it but found neither. Constantly grabbing and moving a scroll bar is tedious. How do I resize the windows?

What is your screen resolution setting on your computer?
I have an older laptop that I use with SP. It displays SP much like what you posted. My desktop which is new shows more.

What you are experiencing is more of a windows and pc hardware issue vs the software.

"Screen Resolution: The desired screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 (also referred to as 1080p). If your computer/monitor has less than this (many older laptops have 768), a vertical scrollbar will allow you to scroll the GUI."

There is no method to change SP window sizes within the software. You may be able to get more on the screen by playing with your computer microsoft windows display settings.

Here is another thread that may explain the window size within SP

The neighbor is a PC guy (I haven't used a PC for more than 5 years) and he explained the same thing. Both the resolution and Scale settings were set to "Recommended". I cut the scale in half and everything fit.

Thanks for the help.

Glad it worked out for you.
I still just put up with the scroll bars when I use my laptop.

My go to software is WoodTurnerPro. The graphics are better in SP as well as the paint feature. WTP give full control over each ring. Currently SP does not.

What is hard for me to understand is that if you write software using Microsoft’s Visual Studio (almost all independent software companies do this), your users using Microsoft’s recommended settings will all have this problem. Why would they recommend settings that would cause software written using their own development system to not display properly.

It’s a puzzlement.

A little bit more about this issue…

The standard resolution for laptops has been 1920 x 1080 (1080p) for many years now. Using c# to write code, you have to target a resolution so 1080p is what is typically used. Once you make this choice of 1080p with no scaling, you now pick fonts and font sizes to determine where data fields should be placed and the font and font size to make the user interface.

New laptops now have the ability to have greater and sometimes much greater resolution which would only be used if you have a scientific or photographic need. If you choose to use this ultra high resolution, c# software user interfaces will be so teeny, tiny that the only solution is to increase the scale and they just pick a round number like 150% or 200% in and call it good. This results in a user interface that is readable but is no longer what the developer wrote.

There is now a notice at the top of every forum page about two issues that could arise with new PCs that address this issue and a hardware issue that you don’t have, fortunately. I just added this issue since it has just surfaced and is likely going to be an ongoing issue.

Rest assured that changing from Microsoft’s recommended settings isn’t going to change anything other than making independent software appear as it was intended to appear.

Lloyd
