• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Everyone, Let's keep this thread civil, please.

tj232: It could be dyed wood, it could be a plastic, it could be corian. Or as some have done in making basket illusion bowls, the individual segments were painted. So it is possible to just paint the flag on a turned bowl.

That was NOT the intent.

If you had looked else where on this forum: Title: {title]
And also on the Segemted Woodturners: Title: {title]
And Woodturner's Resource: Title: {title]

I have been researching the options of getting Blue Wood in a segmented vessel.

As you can see above Stuart made a great suggestion of laminating blue dyed veneer.
I had other suggestions of blue corian and blue acrylic.
And several ways of dyeing the wood.
So until if figure out works for me:
That's the problem :)

Very nice. Have you started the build?

No I'm still at 48 segments.
I'm working on a bowl now, next will probably 60 segments.
Each step up seem to have it's own set of new problems and issues, so I thing I'll be working up in steps.

The design with the flag, I had started in Woordturner PRO but never got around to finish it. The painting is so much easier in Segment PRO so I thought I'd give it a try. There would have to be more done to it, as I'm not real happy with the placement on the bowl and the way it ended up looking, even though I had researched what the correct proportions should be. And then there is the issue of the open space on the backside, it needs something.
So no I will not be building it in the near furture, I need to build my skills up to Tom Lohman's level first.

36 segments per ring is the best I have done so far. My skill level is not yet ready to go prime time on 48.

How about an Eagle head in the dead space??? Seems appropriate.

If you ever do try to make this piece, consider making segments that are half maple and half blue or red or white etc. to straighten the vertical lines. With 144 piece segments this should be a piece of cake. HA!
