The Skeleton

This pot is 280 mm high and 100 mm wide and is constructed out of 10 staves of Inbuia. The staves are separated by splines consisting of 3 mm thick African rosewood in the center and two layers of dark and white veneer on either side of that. The original idea was to make a pot such as shown on the website of Gary Smith (http://www.take-a-turn.org/index.php?option=com_hwdphotoshare&task=frontpage&Itemid=2). The extreme accuracy required in the cutting of the staves and especially the gluing together of the components was way beyond my capabilities and, as a result, the white outer layer of wood had to be removed.

What is seen in the photograph is therefore only the inner dark layer hence the name: The Skeleton.
