Maple and Chechem Greek Key bowl

That's a great job, Charles. Your feature ring is very attractive and executed perfectly. It is clear that you have all the grain running in the right direction and it shows.

The color variation in the chechem detracts a bit from the contrast between species in the feature ring. Also, due to its high density and weight, the chechem turns differently from the maple (and dulls my tools more quickly!); next time I'll try a different species. I tried a few different techniques in constructing the greek key before I found one that produced consistently accurate results so the parts of the key fit together perfectly with all the grain running in the right direction. The segment angles were cut on the spacers (the vertical maple bar), so that the more you turned, the narrower the spacer became. Or perhaps I should say the segments were the vertical maple lines and the rest of the feature pattern was the spacer! I oversized the segment edge length on the vertical maple line and turned it down until it was the right width. You'll note the inside version of that line is quite a bit narrower than the outside. I couldn't figure out how to have that continuous maple line on the greek key pattern on the inside view without it being affected by the segment angle. Suggestions welcome.

This is the first time I've seen the Greek design covering so much of the bowl and I have to say that it looks wonderful.
