First feature ring

First feature ring

First attempt with a feature ring. I noticed some flaws so I will remount on lathe and fix them. I'm happy with it. A lot to still learn.

I love the feature ring, however, does seem a bit top heavy?

Nice job on the feature ring, Richard!

There are no real rules in segmenting design, but generally speaking, a feature ring will look better when it is higher in the bowl. It is often at the top of a wide, open form but a little lower in a closed form.

In Segment PRO, the upper red line in the profile window is the golden ratio and it is often used as the location of a feature ring. Now it would be boring if every bowl were made that way, it is called ‘golden’ for a very good reason - it makes a design that feels right.

I look forward to seeing more from you. Thanks for posting.

Congrats on a great looking feature ring that is well constructed. I have yet to try my lamination pro program to actually attempt one myself this might inspire me to give it a go.
