Different wood on same ring

Hi Lloyd, I am trying to do a 36 segment ring with three species of wood. If I select segment 1 and choose a species it also changes 10, 19 and 28...I don't want 10 and 28 to change but 19 is ok. If I try to change just seg #10 it changes 1, 19 and 28 AGAIN! How do I change a single segment?
 
In WTP on the right hand side of the screen (Project Properties), you should see "paint repeats per row"

I would guess it has a checkmark along with a "4" in the numbers box.

Uncheck the "paint repeats per row", Select a segment, Right click and choose the wood species for that segment.
