Someone needs to start this off and I guess it might as well be me.
I'm from Portland, Oregon and have been a woodworker for 34 years. I know that because my father-in-law gave me a radial arm saw for a wedding present. He said that if I was going to marry his daughter, I'd better get to work building some furniture because we sure-as-heck didn't have any ourselves. I wasn't sure what it was and certainly didn't have the first clue as to what to do with it. Now, I've made nearly every piece of furniture in our home.
I got my first lathe about 11 years ago. One of my first projects was making a segmented bowl. During assembly, I could see that my rings hadn't lined up perfectly and it was questionable whether I could make a wall profile that would hold together. It didn't. It made me think, though, that if I had a piece of software that would let me create a wall profile with instructions on making it, I would have a much better chance of completing a project. Since I had long designed software, enlisted my good friend and programmer extraordinaire to take my design and make a program from it. Together, we started Woodturner PRO which we released in 2002.
I love working with wood, but don't get enough time in the shop as I would like. I also like photography and music, including piano, guitar, and my latest craze - bluegrass banjo.
I want to personally thank you for joining our community and if there is anything I can do to make your stay more enjoyable, please don't hesitate to ask.
Work safely,
Lloyd Johnson
