problem with segment pro

Hi, Im new to these programs and just learning. I have the 30 day trial and i was loving it but i ran into a problem.
At first everything was working and i was making bowls and viewing the rings and the storyboard was working.
Now i try to build the bowl and when i go to view the rings it gives me a mesage "RING VIEW DOCUMENT NOT AVAILABLE for FEATURE RING BOWLS" I have the paint bowl icon checked not the feature ring icon checked. also the other icon "tornado bowl" does the same thing.
I dont know how to fix it. and the bowl view does not change.
Any help is greatly appreciated

- If you have not take the time to view the SP tutorial vids.

- ring view document is for painted rings only. It gives the layout of the different species painted.

I have viewed the tutorials . it does not work when the painted icon is selected. I also tried to reinstall the software and it asked if I wanted to repair the program which i selected and i still does the same thing

I take it that SP opens ok.
Without knowing the steps you have taken it makes trouble shooting more difficult.

- Open Segment Pro
- set your bowl settings (painted segments)
- go to paint and paint your segments
(If nothing is painted the default seems to be SP believes you are doing a featured ring.
- Go to rings , in the new pop window give the pdf a file name.
Note the default location is MySegmentPro/Ringview folder
- the pdf should be created and open up.

Ring view is only for painted segments. It provides the layout pattern you created.
 
Im experiencing the same issue, so i will try but have put in a simple painted bowl and got same issue.

I got it, it has to be put into a file before you can view the rings and get your segment placement on each ring. Try a simple design so you get the hang of it. The problem is not the woodturner but the computer because we are all ancient it seems and never taught even the basics in computing at school because it was just not there.

Have to disagree @Cabinboy. The problem is not the computer. The program does what it is designed to do.

Yep, when I went to HS the closest computer was a slide rule. In college I had one of the first hand calculator Texas Instrument that did trig functions. As an old dog, I had to learn Windows and the turning software. I learned what the program will do and will not do. Much of it by trial and error playing with the software.

I still use WTP for a lot of my projects. SP automates a lot of the basics if one wants a traditional segmented bowl. WTP gives you control of each ring.

Have fun learning the programs.
