• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Repeating paints

While watching the Repeat Paint and Auto Adjust Diameters video I see a difference in the repeat paint setting. With version 3.1.0.0, build 3.1.016 I see that paint repeats is per row but the video shows every segment. Setting mine to repeat per row at 4 gives a different result than the video with the setting at segments. Can I change this?

- Some of the tutorials have not been updated as Lloyd released updates.

Not enough coffee yet today. I am a bit confused on what exactly you are wanting to do with the paint repeats.

- Paint repeats per row unchecked.
You can click on a single segment and right click and select a new wood species.
You can hold down Ctrl and click on multiple segments, right clich while they are still highlighted and choice a new species.

- Paint repeats per row checked
set number of repeats per row you want 1 to 100 (whole number when dividing. for 12 segment ring you can repeat 2,3,4,6,)
highlight a segment and right click , select the species. The program will repeat the choice based on your number of repeats
------------
You can use the Ctrl and click multiple segments in different roles, right click and select the species. It will paint those segments.

Hope that was what you were looking for.

I know how to use the segment paint function. My question was about the difference in functionality between the setting in the tutorial and the setting in the current version. They don't seem to perform exactly the same. Follow the steps in the tutorial using 3.1.0.0 and you will get a slightly different pattern.

As I said in my post some of the videos are based on early version of WTP and may not reflect how the current version is working.
Is this the vid you are refering to?
Video Tutorial: Multi-Row Resize feature of Woodturner PRO v3

If so, would you provide a timestamp time in which the instructions start that is acting differently in the current .016 WTP. It will help to know exactly where to start watching.

To be honest it has been years since I watched the video tutorials.
I have not had an issue of WTP producing the pattern I wanted when painting segments.

Version 3.1.0.0 was the first release after a very major upgrade that touched almost every line of code and the date of that was in June 2012. It is likely there were issues with that release that were fixed soon after. The current version hasn’t been touched with regards to painting segments in over 10 years. I have no indication that the current version isn’t working correctly.

If you can post a link to the tutorial you are referencing, please do so as it may need to be deleted if it is causing confusion. I usually don’t delete old tutorials because they contain lots of useful information even though it may be old. Since it is impossible to run version 0.0, though, if it is different than the current version, that old version had a bug and was fixed in 0.1.

Generally speaking, comparing a current version with one that is 11 years old isn’t very useful. Any changes that were made were made for very good reasons and the current version works exactly as it is intended to work.
