Is it possible to have 12 Species in a palette, or is the 10 species a hard rule?
In SP the limit is 10 species in a palette. In general using more than 10 species would be rare in segmenting.
Word of caution: While the palette can contain up to 10 species, you will find the summary view does not handle more than 5.
Wood Turner Pro you can use as many species as you like. The same problem will occur in printing the summary view.

You have to draw lines somewhere. I could have gone to six which would have been fine until someone wanted to use seven. Fortunately, you can use as many species as you want in Woodturner PRO and it will display correctly as both a vessel and a ring view so I believe that’s as good as is necessary. ""

WTP Summary Species limit
Up until this month I never used more than 4 or 5 species of wood in WTP, The summary sheet printed the correct amount of each species per ring. This week I was designing a vessel with 6 species of wood. The painting was no problem. Ring view showed the different species in the correct...

Thanks, I will keep on trying to figure a way to do a thin wall , 24 closed segment of my balloon. It has 12 colors in a left spiral and that is my challenge. I will figure this out eventually... Appreciate prompt responses!
If you have WTP use it. You can do as many species as you want.
In SP in the bowl setting window is where you can set the wall width.
