I haven't decided for sure yet. I might rip it and try for a diamond shape. I'm still figuring out all the cuts. I'm watching the tutorial videos to get a better grasp on it. I am thinking of getting some cheap pine, etc. paint it and then try it first before I use the hardwoods. I'm open to all suggestions.Good start.
I like the colors. You going to leave it as a zig zag (chevron) pattern?
Thanks. Any ideas on the best way to cut the angles on the height of each segment? Some say cut it like a stave. I can't seem to get it right. That looks great! I highly recommend using some cheaper wood like you said to practice the next cut. The cut has to be very precise to get a good match on the diamonds. I'm still practicing that myself.
I am referring to the vertical cuts. Thanks for the help.I think I might have misunderstood your question. Are you referring to cuts you make while constructing the lamination or cuts to make the segments?
The attached pdf from Incra is a method I use. I just make sure the fence is tall enough to support the segment. It requires the cutting of one side of the segment, then cutting the other side. The only limit is the height of your saw blade. This is for making the miter cuts for the segments.
