hi name john just new to Woodturning and found this site and love all your turned project what would be good for me to do as a beginner

Hi John.
Welcome to WTP forum.

Take a look at the vids Lloyd has made regarding the software. You will have a better understanding of what goes into making a segmented project.

If you have a woodclub in your area, I would suggest you join it. Getting hands on instruction on the lathe and building a segmented vessel would be beneficial.

Do a search for books on segmented turning. Books from turners like Malcolm Tibbits, Ray Allen, would provide some good references. Search the web for turning vids.

Last try out WTP different software. It is great and makes the process easy as far a designing.

Hi John

If you are just starting I would recommend spindle turning. If you like I can give you a lot of Youtube links and what I did was watch and try. I really wished when I was in the wheelchair for 5 years I would have had a video and TV out in the garage since it was so hard to turn a little and go back into the house and watch and turn and repeat.
Where are you from?
Maybe we can find you a club to go to or if close enough come to my house and learn of which I would enjoy teaching.
