It seems to me that the ability to make an open segment vessel on projects with a high segment count would eventually cross the line between technically challenging and virtually impossible as the number of segments per row increases. Specifically, the tinier the open spaces, the more obvious cutting errors and alignment problems would become. At higher segment counts this would be visible at tens of thousandths of an inch.
