• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

My name is Richard Hanson from Minnesota. I do segmented turning. My question is are the slides on the sled metal or wood?

Hi Richard,

Welcome to the Woodturner PRO Community!

I'm not sure what sled you're referring to, but as a general practice, I make the runners for any sled that I made from 3/8" High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). I do this because is doesn't expand in times of high humidity and it slides easily in the tracks. I use a tap bit to put threads into the plastic. You can, of course, make these from wood just as easily but I've always been glad that I used HDPE and I make a lot of sleds.

Thanks Lloyd:
I thought about going to a sled down the line. I have been using a compound miter but don't like having to wait for saw to stop before raising it. Also it is hard on switches in the saw. I will do some more studying of these sleds. Thanks again.

Richard,

I completely missed the title to your post where you specifically asked about the Dubby sled. :-<

The runners on the Dubby are metal. I've had my Dubby (I actually have two of them) for many years and I use them all the time. I highly recommend them and Jerry Cole, the owner of In-Line Industries is a great guy.

For anyone interested, HERE is a link to their company.
