• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Hi all! Happy (insert your own holiday here) to all! I live in Sunny (mostly) northern california near Santa Cruz in Boulder Creek. I consider myself to be a permanent new turner although have been attempting to produce enjoyable art for 5 years. I started with a small Turncrafter Pro midi, graduated to a Shopfox 16", burned it up and moved on to a Nova DVR. I am loving the machine. I constantly push my boundries to learn new things which also brought me here in search of truth, understanding and the ways of segmenting. Well mostly segmenting. I managed to turn one redwood burl bowl with a birch segmented ring on top successfully. Additional attempts failed miserably. Ahh well. Learning is fun.

I look forward to learning from all of you here as well as sharing my work and seeing yours.

Larry

Well Larry you are a success already. Normally Redwood is so soft and delicate that you have to turn it green to start with. That you were able to attach a segmented ring onto it is great. I tried turning a Cedar bowl as one of my first projects and the thing blew up - right off the lathe - the grain split and came off. If you are really interested in segmented work, suggest you also look at the web site http://www.segmentedwoodturners.org/ Which is the segmented version of the International wood turners organization. Good luck in all your turnings. By the way, I'm also a No. Cal guy. Live in Brentwood, East of Concord, CA.

I think I got lucky with the bowl in question. The person (grey hair) in the segmented turners site you directed me to is one of the members of the Bay Area Woodturners Association of which I was a member until it became to far to drive. They meet in Pleasant Hill at the Adult education place. A great group of people there.
