I’m new to segment turning and looking at Kevin Neelley’s round bow example, I see that each of the segment’s board width has different board width numbers. (i.e 1.42, 1.46, 1.5 …) It seems to me that the segment board width is not critical as long as the segment does not exceed the diameter of the circle. So looking at the example above all the board widths could be cut at 1.5 inches. The down side is that you have a little bit more to trim out of the bowl.
The critical number is the Segment Edge length. The reason is this determines the diameter of the circle.
Am I missing something??
