Seg Pro Summary incorrect

Hello,

I created a plan with multiple woods, saved the plan and it shows under the Plans tab. It also opens up fine and shows the correct design in bowl view and Paint. However, the summary sheet does not show all the woods I used in the design. I tried exporting file so I could post here and it states that it cannot find the file.
???

I can figure out and correct this in my excel sheet but would like to know if this is on my end and what I need to do for future plans.

Thanks

Sorry you are having an issue.
When you are in SP and go to Plans your file is there and you can open it. Is that correct?
If so when you go to Share / Export you should get a message similar to this. the exported json file should be in your Document/My Segment Pro folder.

- By any chance did you change the number of segments per ring after you started painting the design?

If you cannot post the json file , then can you do a screen shot of the summary sheet. that would be helpful.

You might try exiting SP and restarting the SP and select the plan again. Then try to export in again.

Hey Mike, thanks for the assistance. Apparently my computer security would not let Seg Pro make changes so this is why it would not save.

I have attached the file. I do not think I changed any settings.

Thanks for posting. I will take a look.

- Your json file imported with no issues.
- The summary sheet seems to be correct.
- Very nice vase. Love the pattern you have developed.
- 48 open segment per ring, painted.

Here is a partial screenshot of your vase. Looks like you are using Maple, Wenge, Blood wood, and Yellow heart.

When you look at the Board Column (left side) it gives the width and the length of a board you need to cut the segments for the diameter of the ring. It does not separate out wood species. It does not contain a fudge factor for safety.

If you look in the Species column it will give you the number of segments of that species needed for that ring. The Lgth is a minimum board length needed to cut that number of segments. It does not contain a fudge factor.

On mine, if you look at row 43-65 they only show Maple at 48 pieces. Obviously that is not what is designed. Does that show on the one you have?

You are correct. I should have look further down the list. row 42 to 65 is showing only one species.

Will have to look a bit further.

What is interesting is the ring view is correct.

I have tried painting rows 42 to the top with just one species wenge and went back to the bowl view. the image changed but the summary table did not. Last time I ran into that was when the number of segment per ring got changed or somehow the software lost the segment tracker for the rings.

Still looking into it.

Sometime after painting the vessel, you changed the number of segments. When I programmed Segment PRO, I decided to keep track of these zombie segments in the event that you change your mind and added the segments back. Unfortunately, the zombie segments make the Summary inaccurate.

I have already fixed this. In the next release, if you change the number of segments, I delete the zombie segments and so the Summary will be correct. To fix this issue now, you simply need to reset the segments to default and repaint.

Although this has been fixed, the new release has a LOT of changes and it isn’t done and can’t be released until it is all done. To make matters worse, before I can release it, I need to redo ALL of the tutorials because if the tutorials don’t match what you see on the screen, it results in a call to support (me) 100% of the time.

For now, just remember that if you change the number of segments, you MUST reset the paint to default and repaint.

Lloyd, I understand what you are saying how ever I did not change the number of segments. I used an existing plan of 48 segs per row that I already had and redid the size and paint.

Jim.
I am about halfway through redoing your design. I did a screen capture of the paint window. In paint I reset all the segments. then saved the plan under a different name. So far so good on the summary sheet being correct.

When I am done and if it comes out correct I will post the json file.
Stay tuned.

Mike you do not have to do all this work. I went back and compared the paint sheet to the cut list and changed what I needed. All I am missing is wood lengths for each wood per ring but I can live with that.
Your help is probably needed elsewhere. I was just wondering why this happened and what to do next time.

Thank you for all the time you put into this!

If this is happening from a file you have opened, it means that the changing of the number of segments happened before the file was saved and exported. The bottom line is that the internal database of segments that have been painted is corrupt. The only way to fix this is to reset and repaint. This will work 100% of the time. Once the new version is released, it cannot become corrupt due to a change in segments.

I did a bit more testing in SP. I did a bowl with 0.25 inch thick rings, 10" tall.
The paint view showed 39 rows, the summary view showed 38 and I scrolled down as far as I could in the window The bowl view shows 39.
When I printed the the summary view the printed table showed all 39 rows.

I think it has to do with scaling in the window the summary sheet is pulled up in.
No big deal since when painting the bowl view is correct, the paint window is correct and the printed table is correct.
