with this segment turning i went a bit mental, it wasn't planned at all i had just got my table saw and built my first sled, i just started cutting segments and making rings, and sticking it all together. The lid laminated with a plug in the middle and a ring glued on the bottom to create a rebate all together there are 316 pieces and it is 350mm tall and 285mm diameter

Thats a great start Martyn,lots of fun,I especially like your lid.
 
Cheers rob i like the lid as well but wasn't too sure about the handle to be honest, this is my largest turning i have produced so for, i didn't intend to build a urn though just the way it turned out. i received my wedgie set wednesday I've tried the 40 seg and the 48 seg and both turn out perfect so ill be creating turnings with a few more segments in future i think. i am looking to buy woodturner pro software soon so i can plan my projects a bit better

I have been playing with the free trial of woodturner pro and will probably buy it too one day.My table saw is out for 8-10 weeks to get parts ,so won't be doing much in the mean time.
