Creating Feature Ring with initials in it as a text image

Are there examples of feature rings where an initial has been incorporated in as the main feature. If so where may I learn the technique?
 
Sadly, you can’t do it with segmented rings because the rings are offset. You can do it if you use a technique called basket weave. The rings where you do the feature going are segmented but then you burn lines around the bowl and also vertical so that you can use colors to fill individual squares to make your design.

Search YouTube for basket, weave wood turning to get an idea of what the technique looks like.
