• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

WTP Summary not showing correct wood species

I have completed a WTP design and painted all of the segments. When I open the summary, the species is not updated from the default except for the bottom disc and the feature ring. How can I fix it?

Thanks,
Tom

Please attach your WTP project so we can look at the file. That will let us see exactly what you are seeing.

There is a limit of 5 species in WTP summary.
is the issue that the summary sheet is not fully visible?
if so, on the top menu reduce the percentage next to the ? icon and/or in the view drop down menu uncheck project properties and keyboard help

I have two species plus the feature ring. The feature ring has 3 additional species (a total of 4 species but one is a repeat of one of the main body species) and was imported from Lamination Pro. The summary sheet is fully visible. I unchecked the project properties and keyboard help. No change on the summary.

Without the WTP file it is difficult to figure out what is happening. Your WTP file should be in the My Woodturner Pro folder under documents.

LP imports an image into WTP as a species. It will not give you a breakdown of those species in WTP. You can import instructions from LP as part of the LP import into WTP. Think of it as a way to visualize the segment created in LP in your bowl. I am guessing what you did in LP was used as your featured ring.

If you do not want to attach the WTP file, then would you attach a screen shot of bowl vessel view and a screen shot of your summary view.

Thanks.

Here is the WTP file. I really appreciate your time and effort. If it takes up too much of your time, I won't be to hard for me to muscle through the project. This is my first full project with WTP and I am just trying to figure things out and double checking my process.

Thanks,
Tom

Thanks Tom. It really helps to have the project file. It is going to be a nice project.
I have attached your WTP file with some changes that I made. I gave it a different name.

In WTP in the Row Details (Species) is where you can set the default species for that row. By default Ash is the species. There is no need to paint individual segments if the row is the same species. Just use the dropdown list and select the species. For example, Row 1 and 15 are Wenge. Select row 1 so it has a blue box around the ring (Double click left button on mouse) and then select the species (Wenge).

If you wanted to have every other segment maple you can select a segment on the row (red box will outline the segment). then right click for a pop up window with a list of available species. Check to make sure the paint repeat per row is selected and the number of repeats is correct.
Uncheck the repeat per row if you only want to paint the individual selected segment.

With the changes I made using the row detail the summary list now shows row 1 and 15 as wenge, row 12 as featured ring and the rest is listed as yellow heart.

I noticed you had walnut spacers for the featured ring row 12. WTP will not list the spacers in the summary table.
As it will not list the wood you used in Lamination Pro to create the diamond.

If you have LP and WTP running at the same time on your PC. and in LP you export the image (species) to WTP it will do that automatically. In LP when you select direct to WTP you will also have the option to add the instructions from LP in the WTP supporting files section (right side)

Thanks for your help and nudging me up the learning curve!

No problem. That is what the forum is for.
Been using WTP for years. It is amazing software for segment bowl planning.

Over the years I have switched to imperial decimal inch and the use of digital calipers. The summary table results will change slightly depending on what option you select. That there is a change in numbers depending on if nearest 1/16th, 1/32 or 1/64th is selected. That is due to rounding.

Have fun.
We can all learn together.
