I’m a retired home builder and have been turning for about ten years. I fell in love with segmented turning shortly after I started turning. I really love the ease and simplicity of segment pro, but it does have its limitations so I ordered Lloyd’s complete suite of software. Now this old man needs to learn woodturner pro. Very Nice work. The gallery is a good place to share your work along with posting in threads.

WTP was Lloyd's first segment planner. 3DDesign is used to create the profile, import it into WTP and build the vessel. One of the many things I like about WTP is it gives you complete control over each ring. SP is rules based. As you have discovered SP limits on what you can do to individual rings.

I tend to use both programs. Really like the paint feature in SP. It is pretty easy to rebuild a SP plan in WTP from the cut list. Because of the difference in the software a design in one program cannot be directly imported into the other.
