• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Clever little fixture but i like to glue up all my rings in the same setting. I may have dozen or more rings drying at the same time. A dozen hose clamps takes up a lot less room than a dozen of these fixtures!

    Off Center

While ignoring the inside and outside diameters may be fine for a glue up that doesn’t depend on them , i.e. using a hose clamp, for the type of jig TomK was asking about the diameter is critical for setting up the jig.

    Off Center

Both edges and the center line all converge at the center of the bowl. Your illustration just shows the segment placed at the wrong distance from the center.

    Beginner Ring Sanding Question

You are getting snipe from your drum sander. Run a piece the same thickness as your ring in front of and behind your ring or run two sticks the same thickness as your ring and longer than the ring diameter on either side of the ring. I always true up the second side on the lathe after glue up...

Not sure what I am doing wrong in WTP

Lloyd’s screen shot shows open segments are 20% where yours shows 20 degrees. I think if you change the setting to 6 degrees you will have the correct gap.

Having trouble with Southwest segment length

Any technique that aligns one layer to the previous layer is subject to cumulative error. The best way to do it is to align each layer to the 1st layer. A line laser set up with the line perpendicular to the axis of rotation allows you to do that.

    Rotating individual layers

Hadn’t even thought of that. Will make it much easier to do non repeating patters rather than trying to keep track of things as you rotate the bowl. Thanks!

    Rotating individual layers

That’s what I have been doing. Just wondering if I had missed a feature.

    Rotating individual layers

Is there any way to rotate individual layers in Woodturner Pro? That would make it much easier to try different configurations rather than having to erase a row and start over.

    Zero Segeasy Plates??

Thanks. Didn’t realize you would leave gaps then go back and fill in. That certainly reduces the cumulative error you would get.

    Segeasy Plate

A couple of questions. Has the segment you used had all the “fuzzies” removed? Did you orient the segment with the same face up in each slot? Did you make your measurement from the same edge of the segment each time? Did you apply the same pressure when inserting the segment into each slot? What...

    Zero Segeasy Plates??

I’m sorry, I was asking about using the your open segment jig that you have switched to. You said you were using it for both open segment and solid rings.

    Zero Segeasy Plates??

When using the open segment jig for closed rings do you just use the calculated ring diameter to set the stop? When you get to the last segment how well does it fit, ie. Does it slip in further than the other segments or protrude some? Is it necessary to add some to the board width to make sure...

    Zero Segeasy Plates??

I am thinking about getting a 48 segment zero seg-easy plate. Can you tell me about your experience with these plates? Did you use a 48 segment plate? I’ve been glueing up 48 segment rings 1/2 ring at a time but looking for something easier to do. Not sure I’m ready to go to a stomper type jig...
