Dennis,
Here’s a couple hints to speed up the process in Woodturner PRO.
First, I’m assuming that you are designing the wall profile first in 3D Design PRO. Now, if you want every other row to be a different thickness 3/4” and 1/8” for example), temporarily ignore the profile that you transfer into Woodturner PRO. Next, start clicking the New Row button adding a LOT of rows that are all 1/8”. Now double-click the bottom to select that row (you’ll see a blue line around that row to show that it is selected). Now hold down your Ctrl key and click the 2nd row and every 2nd row above it to add those rows to your selection. Once you have every other row selected, change the row thickness from 1/8” to 3/4” and now you’ll have a LOT of rows alternating between 3/4” and 1/8”.
Now click the Profile SNAP button to make the rows fit the wall profile. This will likely leave multiple rows more than you needed so simply click the first row that is above your wall profile and then hold down your Shift key and click the very top row which will create a collection of all the excess rows and then click the Delete Row button. You’ll see that this will take you only a minute or two.
Make sure you watch the square in the right column marked ‘Keyboard Shortcuts’. If you learn these shortcuts (they change depending on the row type of your selected row) and using the shortcuts will cut the time needed to create a design by a bunch.
Make sure you watch the tutorials for Woodturner PRO on the Forum > Video Tutorials > Software > Woodturner PRO. The ’Introduction to 3D Design Pro“ is a must see as nothing makes Woodturner PRO easier than to start with a well-formed wall profile. One tip, though, the tutorial references a grid that I removed because it didn’t add value.
