Now that I have the file opened in woodturner pro is there a way to take the provided 3D design pro overlay back to 3D design pro so I can import the overlay back to woodturner pro at the dimensions I desire.

I believe you can accomplish this when in WTP make your changes to the 3DP overlay, do a snap to profile to bring your segments to the modified 3DP profile. Once done use the File / Export to 3D Design Pro. That will create a 3DP profile based on your snapped to profile segments.

Pay attention to where it will store the .3DP file. mine tends to store in My Woodturner Pro folder.

Open the new 3DP created profile file in 3DP.
The process to getting this profile back into WTP is to have 3DP and WTP up and running and within 3DP select the export to WTP.
You will be prompted with the same choice of selecting either the height or width measure.
Depending on your changes the profile should have a different choice of height/width than the original 3DP file has.

Keep in mind 3D Design Pro doesn't understand dimensions. It is about shapes to create a wall profile . Dimensions only come into play when you transfer it to Woodturner PRO.

Mike is correct that you can do this but you won't like the results because there isn't enough data in the WTP Plan. Always, always, always start in 3DP. If you don't you'll have to do a ton more work in WTP.

Watch this tutorial as it will show you everything you need to know about 3DP. Ignore the short part that talks about the grid. Since dimensions are not necessary in 3DP until you transfer into WTP and since the grid made it harder to click on dots to modify them, I deleted the grid.
