Wondering what I am doing wrong this time lol

I select a design
Change the measurements / piece count
Go to Storyboard and design feature ring
Click back to Bowl View and the software closes and I have to start all over again

???
 
Jim, at some point, you deleted a file that the software thinks is supposed to be there. This could be a category or a number of other things.

Easy fix. Don’t uninstall the software. Just reinstall it and when the installer sees you’re installing the same version that is installed, it will give you three options. The one you want is Repair. This will return the software to the state it was in when it was installed.

You are free to delete any files you created - Plans, Profiles, species, Palettes, but you shouldn’t delete files that the installer added.

Lloyd, I appreciate your assistance. I have reinstalled before and this only happens when I use storyboard to create a feature ring.

Hi Jim.
I just went into SP, chose a profile, set the bowl setting, I made sure that the featured ring was selected in bowl settings.
and then went to storyboard. Made some changes in storyboard. Clicked on Return to Bowl and had no problems.

I was unable to crash SP.

You said you did a reinstall. Did you select the Repair option?

Can you install Zoom and give me a call? If I can see the problem, I can fix it.

I love email and forums but they are the worst things that have ever happened to software technical support. It takes 10 times longer to solve a problem than a zoom call. I’m pretty confident that the problem is with your saved Plan. At some point, an incorrect data field was allowed to be saved which causes the software to abend (abnormal end) and whenever you open that file, the problem returns.

The simple fix is to start from scratch and the problem will go away but I’d like to know what the problem is so that I can prevent it from happening again and since I’m working on a major upgrade to Segment PRO, now is a great time to not allow errors to happen.

I am curious of what was the action that was causing SP to close and what the fix was.

There was a blank species slot in my default pallet that showed as a pic of "No Image" and I thought that was usable. ***I was trying to design a porthole feature ring and I didn't have a porthole image to upload to my pallet.
However, all it was is just stating no image and not an image I could use. So, Even though I selected that "image" the software sees it as an empty species slot so it closed.

I'm sure Lloyd can explain better

Hey Mike, I am trying to add a new species to SP but I cannot find a folder labeled Species. I have a folder labeled WoodTurnerPro and when I open there are separate folders for each program. When I open SP there are just exe files and other stuff but not the folder I need.
I think my brain is done for the day
????

Hi Jim.
You should have in your document folder a My Segment Pro folder.

My Segment Pro should have 4 folders.
Spreadsheet
Species
Ringview
Price Quotes.

Just place your jpeg species image in the Species folder. It should show up when SP is started

Well I found a porthole png that sort of gives me the image I will be doing.
Not sure if the vessel shape fits but I also realize the porthole image is not a perfect representation.

Not bad Jim. Makes an interesting featured ring.
I always like the Soutwest type vessel.
Have fun with the build.
