Hi from Greensboro ,NC

Been turning for a number of years and an introduction to Segpro has piqued my interest..After constructing a number of vessels{and designing a few) I've noticed the Titebond 2 leaves an amber color on the lighter segments like maple. I'm sold on Titebond otherwise. Just wondering if anyone uses a more clear substitute in situations involving less residual color after gluing . Thanks...

Welcome to WTP forum.
I also use TiteBond with good results. I have also used Elmers white wood glue with good results. It dries clear.

Many woodworkers use Eileen's Tacky Glue. My understanding is that this glue is a glorified version of Elmer's White glue. It dries clear and has a very strong bond.

Oops. That would be Aleene's Tacky glue. My phone cannot understand my accent this morning... I have had nothing but great results with Aleene's.

I use Titebond original extended. It is formulated for laminating and has a longer open time. It is very strong and turns and sands very well. It is not water resistance. If not making salad bowls it will be fine. Put a good finish on. I used this glue for years when I was laminating bent hand rails and arch casings. Have never noticed any staining on any wood.

I use TiteBond "Quick and Thick" for all of my segmented turnings both open and closed vessels. Remember if you use this glue, only use the smallest amount. Leave no squeeze out. When it dries there is little or no glue residue. It dries pretty fast usually in 15 minutes so you can "turn" the segments or start another ring. If you want a reference to this glue see "Earl's Small Segment Shop" on youtube.com

Yeah, I wonder sometimes if the applied glue I lay on the wings of each segment is too much or too little ,always striving for just enough to hold but just a hint of squeeze out.

This is a chart from the Titebond website that gives information about their most popular glues including the dry color.

I have used Tightbond III for all my closed segmented work for years with no problems. Takes a little longer to dry but I'm not in a hurry. I use Tightbond Translucent for open segmented work
.Rarely does it require clean-up between the segments. I have never seen it in stores only online.
