Thank you for this reply. I was thinking of doing the same thing in order to make different patterns and seeing this reply tells me it is possible and also not such a silly thought! There is no way to import a WTP file to SP or a SP file to WTP.
So the short answer is no, the workflow of 3DDP to WTP to SP will not work.
Best that I can think of is do a profile in 3DDP
import profile into WTP, build your vessel, do a PrtSc to capture image to clipboard
In SP use the =/- image, paste from clipboard, clip to size, draw profile lines in profile view.
The problem is SP is rules based and builds a vessel using those rules. WTP is not rules based.
You currently can't have different height rings in SP (excluding feature ring), different segment numbers, etc.
I have designed some vessels in SP. Taken the summary sheet and used it to build the vessel in WTP. I then can tweak the design in WTP. WTP gives you full control over each ring.
I just purchased the full software suite. Thanks for the 30 day trial. It was very helpful. Is the above workflow possible? It would be nice to find a shape, import into 3D DP, transfer this design to WTP and then bring the finished dimensions into Segment Pro to see how feature rings etc. look with the design. Any way to do this?
Enjoy the software. Hope you find it as useful as I do.I just purchased the full software suite. Thanks for the 30 day trial. It was very helpful.
Sorry if I'm suppose to post this somewhere else. I just watched a YouTube seminar that Lloyd did with the New England Wood Turners group which was very helpful in explaining several things that I missed earlier in my using of the software suite. He mentioned a viewer that could show the 3D Design Pro files in their native format. That is very helpful but I didn't catch what software he was using and/or how to set it up. Any more information on that item would be appreciated.
Thx,
Dan
