• Having problems with video with Segment PRO on a new PC? You could be experiencing one (or both) of two problems. First, if you have an ultra high-resolution screen, the recommended settings might be higher than 1920 x 1080 with a scale factor of more than 100% and the user interfaces for all software written in c# will NOT be correct. Simply change the resolution and scaling to 1920 x 1080 and scale to 100%. Second, if you have a wonky Bowl View, you have an Intel Iris graphics solution and there are serious problems with it. Solution - go to the Drivers page at Intel's website and install their latest driver for your computer. This will fix it. Link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download-center/home.html

The ring view is not showing anything of the detail

See my attached ring view - it just shows each ring, but there is nothing about each ring. Is this because I still am playing around with the trial version?

Without seeing your bowl and how it has been designed, I don’t have enough information to comment. The Rings View is ONLY used for painted segment vessels because it helps you layout the segments for each ring and that isn’t necessary for either a feature ring or tornado bowl.

Can you tell me what additional information you then want. it is a painted segment bowl. I'm attaching a screen shot if this helps.

Jonathan:
In SP the ring view is used only for layout if you have "painted" a design as Lloyd has stated. That is using different wood species within a ring.
If you want the ring view to give specific information about the segment you would need to use WoodTurnerPro. In WTP the ring view provides a actual size output of the ring along with information regarding the segment. The summary sheet will give the total of each species. The ring view will only give info on number of segments, SEL, etc.

I can't see how you've painted the bowl as I would either need to see the bowl view or a screen capture of the paint page.

However, I can see by the Cutting summary that you have painted all 16 of the segments of every row with walnut except for row 5. On row 5, you've painted all segments with Maple and that is exactly what the ring view shows.

Watch this tutorial about how the Rings View works:

in the tutorial it showed for each ring the SEL and other information about the ring - I didn't realize it only came out under some conditions - i assumed it was always there. nuf said - thanks. call it user error or lack of understanding of the software.

Sorry. I thought you were asking about how the rings were painted.

At one time, that page had additional information but there was a bad bug in the 3rd party control I use to generate the output so I removed the text that was causing the problem because it is already on the Summary.

Since they've now fixed that bug, I have now added the data back to the Ring View and with the next release it will be there again. That part was easy but some of the other things I have to finish before releasing it are much harder and still need more work so it won't be too long before I post it.
