• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

UNHANDLED EXCEPTION

Hi Richard.
- It may be helpful for you to provide a copy of the .lam file .
- does it happen all the time you load LP? only with this Vase2 file?

Have you rebooted your PC and launched LP again? Does the error continue?
- Have you the latest update to Windows?
Have you tried uninstalling LP and installing in again?

If the problem continues , you may want to contact Lloyd Johnson.

I don't know were the .lam file is. It does not happen when I load LP only when I transfer to WTP.
I have re booted my PC and have run the lasted Windows update. I have uninstalled LP and installed again still same problem.

- When you installed LP a folder should have been created in Documents called My Lamination Pro. Your LP designs should be stored in that folder

I am not sure what you mean to "transfer to WTP". WTP will not open a LP .lam file. LP is used to create an image file of the design. This image file is used as a wood species in WTP.

To use the "export to Woodturner Pro" you can have both LP and WTP up and running (open) at the same time on your pc. If you don't the file will be saved to a SP folder on your hard drive.
- In LP use the export region (red triangle) to define what is to be exported.
- When you click on "export to WTP" you will see the WTP icon flashing in the lower menu bar of windows.
- click on the flashing icon and WTP opens with the species window. Name your LP design, select the stretch to fit window option, and ok.
- your LP design (species) should now be added to your list of wood species for use in WTP.

The other method in LP is to use the export image button in LP. Using this option does not require WTP to be up and running. In the open window you can select where you want to store the image. You then have to start WTP and and the image as a wood species.

I have not been able to recreate the error on my laptop or desktop pc. I would suggest you contact Lloyd by email.

Richard.
If you can open your design in LP and when you hit the export to WTP do you get as far as the add species window in WTP?

If you do, have you tried making the image smaller. like 1" by 1" ?

Have you created a new LP project and export the image and get the same error message?

I'm sorry I miss spoke, I created a design in LP for a Feature Ring in WTP the error happens when "Export to Woodturner Pro is selected.
Yes I have LP and WTP running at the same time. Also, I follow all the steps as you described an have reduced the size from 2" to 1-3/4 but I get the same message. " If you can open your design in LP and when you hit the export to WTP do you get as far as the add species window in WTP? " No I do not. Microsoft sent an update for Windows about a week ago and I installed it on all my PC's there may be a conflict with windows update and LP.

Hi Richard.
if you can find the .lam file please attach it to a post. I can pull up what you have. Without it , not sure what more I can do.

Can you try creating a new LP project and try exporting the image. Keep it small. Like 1.5" tall. Reason I ask is I want to see if its the one lam file or something else.
I have tried different things on two of my pc's and cannot recreate the issue. Some searches on the error message leads me to think for some reason the image trying to be created is to large for your pc.

I am running the latest windows 10 update on both pc's. Hopefully you are running the latest LP 3.2.019

Where is the .lam file located ? This is the version of LP that I have.
I have tried creating a new LP project but I get the same results.

When you installed LP a folder should have been created in Documents called My Lamination Pro. Your LP designs should be stored in that folder
C:\my documents\My Lamination Pro\ file name.lam

or you can search for your file name.lam

or if you can open LP with your design, just do a file, save as , and tell the pc where you want the LP file saved to.

Hi Richard.
Thank you for the two files. It made all the difference in seeing what the issue may be. The good news is I could open both files, exported your design into WTP with no errors. I have attached 2 files. A revised LP file, A revised WTP file (with your design)
Malcolm Vase
  • Use always should design your vessel first in WTP or SP before working in Lamination Pro. The reason is you need the dimension of your featured ring.
  • The Repeating Unit length in Lamination Pro needs to be as close as possible to your featured ring segment edge length in WTP.
  • The Board Thickness (ring height) in WTP is used to set the Export Region Height in LP
  • Lamination Pro (Malcolm Vase 2)
I opened the LP file you sent me with no problem. I did notice some things from your design.
    • The Repeating Unit is 2.82 inches. From your vase design you need it to be 1 23/32”, To change the repeating Unit length you need to adjust the First Cut Width.
    • 1 23/32 is 1.72 in decimal inches. So I adjusted the First Cut width in LP to 9/16”. This produced a repeating unit of 1.72”.
    • LP defaults to 5” for the Export Region. You will need to set that to 1.5”. The height of your featured ring.

Thank you for the files. I have some tips for you to consider. I was able to bring in your design for the featured ring. I have attached a new WTP file for your consideration.

Did you download and try the two files I attached? If so did they work?

The software versions are the same as yours. The up to date version of the software is available for download from the download page.
I highly doubt the version of software is the issue. The LP or WTP files are not dependent on versions of the software.

I used the two files that you sent me and they worked fine, but I went a step further I created the same vase in WTP same size same dimensions on the feature ring, put in the exact information in LP just as you described, it did not work I got the same error message that is why I asked what version and build you had of LP and WTP.

Without seeing the exact steps you are doing I am at a loss. I would suggest you email Lloyd with the issue.

Richard
I finally got my laptop pc to come up with the error. I just clicked on the option to have it ignore and continue. I was able to get the design into WTP
Try it and see what happens. It is an exception error ,but not quite the same as your?

What is strange is I went in and created a new LP project using your specs for the laminate. LP worked fine. Definitely something for Lloyd.
Sorry could not be more help.

Thank you very much, will you send this error message to Lloyd?
Sent Lloyd a email. It may be a bit before he can look into it. He has some family matters to take care of.

What is strange is when selecting the option to continue things work and it is not a consistent error.
