Hi everyone,
I'd like to introduce myself to the members here. I've been a hobby turner for a decade or so (picked it back up after having fallen in love with it way back in middle school shop class). My time in the "shop" has been limited, but I've gotten into some simple segmenting recently, and have enjoyed it so much that I decided I'd like to give Lloyd's software a try! ONE of the reasons I've really enjoyed segmenting is because I was able to set up moveable "stations" where I can complete some of the tasks (glue-ups, clamping, etc.) in the house, where 1) it's warmer (or cooler, whatever the season) and 2) I can still spend time with my wife and kids while being methodical with the work. It's been a great way to continue my hobby but without disappearing into the garage for long periods. Win-win!
I've already learned a ton from you by lurking on these forums, but look forward to learning even more as I go along even if it is at a slow pace.
I've [hopefully] attached a pic of my most recent segmented bowl for my wife. I completed this before purchasing the software, so it's a simple design using birch and padauk. Obviously not something to brag about compared to some of the pieces on here, but was another great way to work on the basics and hone some of jigs and skills needed.
Looking forward to learning more and contributing where I can. Wishing you all a great New Year!!
