• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Open Segment Project - Maze

Well the first round thing still stands for anyone that gets close to Green Bay, WI.
Just give me a holler

Congrats on the segmented project and the 1000th post. Really enjoy your follow along project. Your advice on software is also excellent.

I am about to reach half of that.

Well lets just get it over this is my 1000 th post :)
Thanks so much for all you've done in support of Woodturner PRO. I can't tell you how much it means to me.

What is truly amazing, though, is to see how far you've come as a segmenter in the past 12 months. TRULY REMARKABLE!

Bob

Quite a few things I do not understand

First what and why the index plate. How to make it and how to use it when to use it and why
Second what is that metal straight edge with the rule on it do? Is it something we will need in the future and how to make it?

I guess that is enough for now. lol

They go hand in hand.
First I'm making an open segment bowl, so the segments are not glued to the segment on either side of it. They are only glued on the top and bottom (the row below and the next row above it).

The index wheel is to position the bowl at the right degrees so that you can glue the next piece on. In open segment blows the pieces are all glued on one at a time not by a whole row.

The ruler and plate are to position the next piece to glue on the ruler is the distance out from the center of the bowl and the plate is the next position that matches the index wheel. The segment is put up against ti to glue it in place.

Here is one of Tom Lohman's videos that shows some of the glueing of the segments this might help:

I guess I should have said what? is an index plate how the plate is made and how it is used?

Should the segeasy plate do all of that?

Should I get a 1/8" or 1/4" sheetmetal stick to do that?

Index plate is a plate divided into degrees that match the number of segments you want to have in your bowl.
You can also do it in multiples an index plate that has 96 hole for 96 segment can do a 48 segment bowl by using every other hole.

Yes a Seg-Easy plate does the same kind of thing.

Tom Lohman sells very nice index plates and a few attachments.

So is this to be an open segmented vase? or bowl?
Only reason I ask is when I clicked on the pictures it shows spaces in-between but with overlap correct?

Great work on this Bob. Really beautiful shape, pattern and color combinations. Are you suffering from postpartum depression?

Yes a little. I have my next bowl in the design stage, should be starting to post the information in "Follow Along Projects"

Just wonder Bob - In my eye the lenght 0.127" must be wrong!! Just looking at the ficture it is at least two fingers and a exposure of the picture it must be more the 1" not 0.127? This I don't undertand?

Stienar,
Here is a copy of the file for Segment Pro, take a look at the summary
the largest S.E.L. was 0.290"
The smallest S.E.L. was 0.112"
4-4.jpg
The S.E.L. is the side by my third finger
The board width was about 1.2" long

I can't open this file in SP nor WP?! I just wonder what I am doing wrong here?
Import is not working. The json file does not show up. I don't get any info about mistakes either!

A JSON file is for SP only.

Download the file. I place them in MySegment Pro folder.
Use the Share import from the dropdown menu in SP Share.

The Share Help gives a quick guide on how to export and import.

When I download the file and clik nothing is coming up on the screen. When Importing and opening the profile the me file is not there!
I thought when opening a JSON file it should automatic open in SP! And going to profiles is should be there it say nothing in the help file!?
Either I am doing something wrong or something i missing in the help file? I am sorry - but I don't get it!
