• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

I would use 1/2 inch. Do it a second time and set it at 3/8 to see if there is any real difference.

    special glue up of segments

Mike, I agree. At best it would be an illusion. I don't think it has anything to do with either WTP or SP. I would like to see what he has come up with for the six sided ring Rod spoke about. If we could see it we might be able to make a guess.

    special glue up of segments

After thinking about this a bit you might be able to accomplish this by making two cuts. Cut your first segment with the first angle. Once you have all the segments cut and the ring made re cut the segments. The attached is a poor drawing of what I mean.

    special glue up of segments

I've been known to occasionally make the inside larger than the outside when doing chunk turning. All it does is make you say bad words. I also would like to know what your friend is trying to build.

    New Guy here.

John, welcome to the group. Two suggestions, watch Lloyd's tutorials and look into Jerry Bennett's Seg Easy at Title: Seg-Easy Solutions . Lloyd also has a good video on an open segment sled. The main thing is ask questions and have fun.

    Need Help

Lloyd, You might contact Alan Zenreich about the possibility of setting up a video demonstration. If there is process where you can do say an hour or two demo on a paid basis I would certainly be interested. Unlike the live video demonstration you would need someone to read questions submitted...

    New Segmented Woodturner

Glad you found us Peter. You'll find a lot of very helpful folks here so if you have questions be sure and ask. You'll always get answers or at least good guesses. What lathe did you get?

    Morris Chair

Thank you. Frank, if you have the interest I suggest the plans on Title: Products – The Wood Whisperer Guild . The plans cost $100 but you get a very good set of documents and around 5 hours of instructions. The instructions show how to build and use forms for the arms, back and so forth. Once...

How to change the first row so it is not a disk

I don't think you can in Segment Pro. You could design the ring in Woodturner Pro and just cut it to those specs rather than a disk. If there is a way I'm sure someone will post how to do it.

    new

Hi Bill, be sure and watch Lloyd's videos to get a good feel for the software. If you are new to segmented turning ask questions. If you've been at it for a while jump right in and share your experience. Above all else have fun.

    Long worth Chuck recommend

Gary, I'm sorry I thought I had sent a note when you first posted. Lloyd sells a longworth chuck for the stomper. At one time he also sold regular headstock mounted ones but I don't know if he does anymore. If not Rockler does have 10" and 16"...

    Morris Chair

I enjoy both flat work and turning. While this chair is flat work the pins that hold the back on and the ones used to adjust the back are turned. The wood is Cherry and took at least 3 times as long to build as it should have.

    Star of David

I haven't done this so take it with a grain of salt. Us 1/4" stock for the Star of David, 1/2" stock for the background. 1. Build two triangles the exact size and angle of the star. 2. Place one triangle on the background, hold down with two sided tape. 3. Out line the triangle with a sharp...

    Star of David

I think this is something that could be designed using sketchup like Lloyd shows in one of his videos. I'm not that good with SU so I'm not sure of the steps. There would be several but much could be batch cut. (How's that for an I don't know answer?)
