• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.
  • Due to a scam attack, the gallery is temporarily turned off. I am working to get this fixed but I have some other things that are higher prioriity. I do hope to have it back soon and there shouldn't be any changes to the content. At least, that is the hope.

    First Vase

I've done a couple smaller pieces in this pattern, but wanted to push it a little. Ash and walnut......the ash from trashed paneling I've got, and the walnut from a tree my father-in-law had rough sawn years ago. 4 coats of wipe on poly. 20" tall and 11.5" at it's widest point. 1,249 pieces. A...

Relatively Inexpensive Fix to the Stomper's Flexing

First of all, Lloyd's Stomper is great. The two problems I've had deal with the total throw (length of the Stomper allowing only around 11" of bowl height) and the flex.......it's a real problem for me especially during glue-up. I saw a thread where a Member is using a piston (can't remember...

    Simple (?) question about LP

Glue ups done - ready to cut out the center strip - here's my question... Cutting instructions are changing when I zoom in and out. Board width is approx. 4.5x...when I zoom in, inst. change - width from 4.59 to 4.5, then 4.56, 4.56, 4.54, 4.55, 4.53, 4.54, 4.56, 4.53, etc. Is that intentional...

    Longworth Chuck for the Stomper

I'd like to make my own chuck......I've got a cnc machine that would cut the arcs with no problem. I've also got a lot of 1/2" corian that would work well with the chuck. What escapes me is how the bolts ride in the lower piece of the chuck. Are the arcs cut into the lower piece wider than the...

    Q about board lengths

I don't have enough experience to answer this question on my own..... SP gives you a board length to start, and I understand that's the minimum length to get the number of pieces you need for the ring. In my first bowl I added around 10% to that length but still came up short in some rings...

    Q about SP's base ring.....

In SP, using the Feature Ring mode I can change the base ring to a segmented ring, but cannot when in painted segment mode. It defaults to a disk and I cannot change it. Being a newbie, I'm concerned with tearout using a solid base ring. Am I missing something? Or, am I overthinking this?

    Q about LP build info

Download page says LP build is 3.2.016 - I downloaded it but get 3.2.014 - am I doing something wrong, or is there a typo somewhere?

    Sure would be nice....

Sure would be nice if, when clicking the help tab in the software, there was the ability to "check for updates". FWIW, Carvewright's Designer software allows the check and automatically takes you to the current build link.

Lloyd, this is the best software I've downloaded in years!

Now I gotta do the rest........software can't help me from this point on. Won't add the top ring till I've shaped the outside........keeping the waste block to give me some stability. Ash and walnut.

Where do you find your wood?

One of the cool things about segmented turning is the ability to build using scrapwood. Any secrets to keeping from emptying your wallet as you expand your inventory of exotics?

    Question re Updates

Lloyd.....building my first vase and learning a lot and having fun. Your software needs to be sold at the Woodworking Shows! My question - what is your policy re builds/updates/upgrades to the software? As new versions are made available are they free to existing owners? What might be the...

Need Input On This LP Design

I'm in the process of putting together a project with a southwest feature ring. The ring has an od of 11.8" id 10.6" width 1.34". Pic of LP design attached. LP wants a laminate length of 59.22" total of 71.06" for 20% allowance. e's my question......is there some kind of rule of thumb I can...

    Issue With Settings in SP

Made a design in SP with a Feature Ring designed in LP. Save it, open it at a later date, go to Story Board, and the setting for the Feature Ring's Accent Rows are changed to 6" from the settings I gave it. Wassup with that?

    Measurements in LP's Summary View

Do I have the ability to change settings in LP to show measurements in the Summary View from decimals to fractions? My LP is the only part of the suite that uses decimal format......all my tools (including the one in my head) use fractions ;)

My changes in LP not being saved.

I gotta be missing something. I open a design I created in LP and make changes to it - Export Region, Strip Width, Center Strip, Etc., then save it. RE-open it and none of the changes I made are saved. Opens as before I made those changes. Have to do it all over again. What am I doing wrong?

    Shopping for a new Lathe.....

It's time. I started out my hobby in 1987 with a Shopsmith and it served me well. Over the years I've replaced it with all pieces but the lathe. I really need something that turns below 950 rpm, not to mention weight, swing, etc. Been drooling over Grizzly's GO766.......any advice or other...
