I hope that the segmented rim doesn't disqualify me. This is my first attempt at the simulated basket weave pattern on a wooden bowl. I used the Southwest pottery style as I think that it most suits the basket weave pattern
Mike: I have had this problem in the past. It is usually the veneer itself which separates by splitting. Veneer is a softwood and not that strong. Willie T.
In this view of my bowl you will notice that I have used Corian mixed with the other woods. What a Gamble!! I hope that this bowl never leaves Arizona or it will surely come apar. Willie T.
This is a variation of a bowl I first saw on Bill Giese' site. Unfortunately Bill has passed on. I enjoy working with bird's eye maple as I have a source near my summer residence in Canada. The trick is finding a good match for the Bird's eye. Willie T.
