This week I finished a segmented vase that took many hours of work. It’s made up of 13 separate rings, each consisting of 16 segments. The most challenging part was the top feature ring — I spent a long time planning and making test pieces to achieve the leaf effect.

The woods I used are mahogany, London plane, sapele, oak, ash, and beech.
The London plane had a particularly strong smell while cutting — it felt like I was releasing the carbon it had captured.

The vase is sanded to 400 grit, given two coats of sanding sealer, treated with Yorkshire Grit to remove any fine tool marks, and polished with Hampshire Sheen. I still need to give it one final polish on the lathe this morning.
Very nice bowl. Like the design.
This was my first attempt after purchasing the software, and I felt it made a real difference. I had previously created segmented pieces, but none with designs. I also want to give credit to 'Fiashetti Woodworking' and the vase he showcased on YouTube, which was a big inspiration.
