• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

HI Ya'll My name is Jolie. I guess i have been turning for about a year and a half now. I unfortunately had to quit my job last August due to health reasons. I worked at a local hospital here in Waco since I graduated high school age 18 till age 44 (26 years). Had a lot of good times at work, met many friends as well as meeting my husband of 21 years. It was one of the hardest things , because I essentially grew up there. But it was finally time to take care of myself. So that is what I am doing. I have always loved building things with wood, I guess it started with my dad being a contractor and I was always out on a job with him, I would have free access to the "scrap pile" to build my own things. Then when I got a little older I got a task I absolutely hated: straightening nails! UGH! But where my creative side really came out was when I would go to my grandfathers house and he would always be building something, so I got to help. After we were done working on the days project then we would sit outside and whittle. My grandad was much better at it than I was. I was mainly good at getting the bark off the stick. HAHA! I still have my knife I used so long ago, it has the tips of all the blades broken off so I wouldn't stab myself I suppose.
So to the present day, I've made mostly pens, a few bowls, a lidded box, and a few segmented pens. I'm sure there is somewhere I can post my segmented pens on here for tips/tricks/critiques. I can definitely tell I've gotten better at it, but still way away from being satisfied with the finished product. Every thing I do with my woodwork I consider a learning experience. I don't really get frustrated, I just try & learn how & why whatever mistake happened and try and learn the correct process. I have recently jumped down another rabbit hole and am so intrigued with segmented vessels. I am here to learn, try, and ask for any suggestions as well as receive constructive criticism. Sorry this is so long. But its my intro. Hope to meet Ya'll on here. Blessings! Jolie

Welcome to WTP forum.
Thanks for taking the time to write up an introduction.

Looks like you have some experience with segmenting with pens. Segmented vessels can be habit forming. Take the time to look at Lloyd's videos regarding the software he offers. Take advantage of the software free trial. It is fully functional for 30 days.

- Wood Turner Pro was created by Lloyd years ago. It gives you full control of every ring.
- Segment Pro is Lloyds newest. It simplifies the design process by being rules based which limits what you can do with each ring.
- 3DDesign is a profile design tool It works flawlessly with WTP.
- Lamination Pro is a design tool based on laminating boards. The image created can be used in WTP and SP as a wood species.

Ask questions and share your experiences. Lloyd and others are good at responding to questions.

Thank you for the welcome! Funny thing! I purchased the programs several weeks ago. Still messing around with using them. But saw something called a stomper & those little plates too use with it. Issue is I don't know which plate to start off with/purchase. But I'm still reading, so I'll figure it out eventually.

The stomper along with the Plates are used for making open segment vessels.

The stomper with the longworth attachment is for closed segment vessels.

All depends what you want to do in your design. The more segments per ring, the finer the design pattern will be.

The Woodclub that I am a member has two stompers. One for closed and one for open segment vessels. The rings the club has is 16 and 36.
We have found that a 10lb. cast plate for weightlifting works well. Just check to make sure the opening on the weight is wide enough for your faceplate.

As far as the software.
I would download a copy of the exe file to a flash drive and keep it safe. I also would keep a hard copy of the software license key from Lloyd.
That way if something happens to Lloyd's site and you have a need to install the software on a different PC you will have the key and the program.
