• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Measurements in LP's Summary View

Do I have the ability to change settings in LP to show measurements in the Summary View from decimals to fractions? My LP is the only part of the suite that uses decimal format......all my tools (including the one in my head) use fractions ;)

The Summary printout did show metric values a year ago and then I replaced the printout with a new version and neglected to add the option for metrics.

I will correct that and post a new version. However, I'm right in the middle of a project that has to be completed first so you'll have to give me a couple weeks. If you don't see a message here that metrics have been added, ping me back. It is VERY important to me that all of my software be available in metrics.

Lloyd.....the ability to change to metric is there (Under User Defaults) ......I was wondering how to get it to show fractions (i.e., 3 3/8" vs 3.375").

Ah. You mentioned LP which is Lamination PRO and I looked and saw that it is not showing in metrics so I assumed that is what you were referring to.

Segment PRO does not show fractions and this is for a very good reason. In a very short period, all monitors will be touch enabled and this means that to use Segment PRO with a stylus, I have to use numeric Up/Down controls that can be used with a stylus or finger control. To accommodate high resolution monitors, I've doubled the size of controls to make this possible. The Up/Down arrows allow the value in the field to be incremented by a default amount which works great. They do not allow text values, though, and fractions are text values.

If you install any new app from the Apple or Windows store, you'll find no fields that support fractions. Like-it-or-not, we are moving towards metrics and it cannot get here fast enough. You don't have to make that leap, though, as we may settle on decimal inches. You can get tape measures and digital calipers with fractions/decimal inches now so the transition will be far simpler than when we tried to make the switch years ago.

Once you switch to decimal inches, you'll wonder why you didn't do it long ago.
