• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Introducing the Stomper

This is the video tutorial I made to release the Stomper. I have more tutorials on the Stomper and related hardware coming but for now, this will give you an understanding of how it works.

I made my stomper from the video. Like some others, I was a little worried about the "play" in the stomper because of the sprinkler mechanism. I am using it today for the first time and any of my concerns are gone! This thing works great! I am so happy I decided to make it.....very accurate and time to glue cut down by 90%! If you're doing rings you need to make this thing TODAY!

I liked your recent video about the Christmas ornament. However, it says it uses the 16 segment seg-easy plate. I checked your website and you sell a 18, 24, 36, and 48 segment plate but no 16 segment plate. However, if I count the pieces in the video it is clearly a 16 segment plate. I have the 24 segment (and will use that instead) but would like to order the 16 and 32 segment plates. I just wanted to double check that you have the 16 segment plate for sale even though it isn't on the website.

Cameron,
I didn’t realize that there was still information about the 18-segment plate. I dropped it in favor of the 16-segment plate because you can divide it by 4 which makes it more versatile. I have updated the table so it now corresponds to the catalog offerings of the store.

Just a quick question from a Newbie. I have been looking at the Stomper and the SegEasy template plates. Is it possible to adapt all of these to the Stomper, or do you also offer templates for 18 segments as a lot of the plans I see use 18 segments

Since Lloyd sells the Segeasy plates, I don't know if he had them modified for the Stomper. You could ask
Jerry B. www.jerrybennettart.com. , if the plates he sells fit the Stomper. You could also send Lloyd a message.

Harald,

I have good news for you. Thanks to multiple requests, I have decided to add the 18/4 SegEasy Plates back to my offerings. I now have some in stock and have added them to the Store so that you can now buy them.

Lloyd

Harald,

As Art said, every plate I make is made to fit the Stomper but if you bought the plates from any other source, including directly from Jerry Bennett, they do not have a hole drilled to fit the Stomper.

If you have already purchased a plate from someone other than me, you can put that plate on your lathe using Cole Jaws (or something similar) and enlarge the center hole to fit over the Stomper.

I have a couple set easy plates I would like to use with my stomper, what size bit should I use to drill the hole. I used a caliper to measure the stomper rod and it measures .791"

I use a 13/16” Forster bit on my lathe and that is perfect. It lets the plunger slide easily but has no wiggle room. I’ve used a number of plungers from various manufacturers and all have worked well with the 13/16” hole.

I’m new to using the stomper and after watching the video tried to find a barbell weight that didn’t cost more than the stomper. Instead, I realized that a gallon paint can full of sand weighs 12 lbs. I grabbed an empty clean can, cut a 2” dia hole in the center of the bottom to fit over the collar of the face plate. I then epoxied a empty yogurt cup over the hole upside down. That keeps the sand from falling out. Fill the can with playground sand, put on the lid and presto, a 12 lb weight to glue down the rings. Cost: nearly zero since I had everything. I did have to eat the yogurt.

That’s a great idea, Jim! I’ll start recommending it.

i use the barbell weight because it gives me a great excuse for not lifting weights due to missing weights.
:)

i may pour out the remaining paint in a gallon can so I can try your method. I need an excuse for not painting, too.

seriously, the important thing is that the weight should be wide as it would be with either approach. This distributes the weight far better than having a heavy weight that is small in diameter.

Thanks for your suggestion.
Lloyd

Hi Lloyd. Where can I find a weight like you show in the Stomper video. There's nothing there at don pencil.com. Thanks.

I bought mine at Dick’s Sporting Goods. The hole in the middle is a standard 2” diameter. It happens to fit most (but not all) of my faceplates so I just choose to use the faceplates that it does fit.

Another option provided by a user is to get an empty gallon paint can and fill it with sand. Then make a segmented ring that has the inside diameter that fits over your faceplate and epoxy it to the bottom of the can. I thought this was a pretty clever idea.
