• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Closed Segment Project 1441

IMG_2395.JPG

This is row 21 on the main body.

I forgot to mention that all fuzzies are now gone and the last ring is in clamps! Now maybe my thumb will heal.

If all goes well tomorrow I should be able to rough turn the inside a bit to blend in the last 5 rows I added. Then just 4 rings to mount so hopefully if this goes as planned Wednesday should be turning day.

Hey Glenn,
Now you have built it I suggest you take a break for a couple of days to let your hands heal BEFOR turning the bowl. I know that will be hard to do but I don't want to read that you put your chisel through the side of it due to your enthusiasm to complete it. How do I know because I have been there, relax and take it gently.:)

Thanks Bob, today should be straight forward as I still have 4 completed rings to add so it will not be too demanding. No more sanding.

Here is the picture with row 23 on, now above the pattern. I have one more maple row and the last cherry row. Row 24 in about an hour from now.

Hi all regarding gluing up 48 segments & keeping it to a complete circle. I found the best way for me was a piece of MDF & routed
a grove about half depth of the segments & wider. If you dry fit ring to get diameter then cut MDF through center both ways then you can glue segments & clamp MDF to tighten ring you need to wax or varnish grove to help stop glue sticking. Youcan use it to cramp slightly smaller rings by taking a bit more off the cut with a planer or such to give more pressure.

Thanks for that Peter. I think I understand but maybe a few pictures would add some clarity. I suspect you would router a new arc for each segment ring as they get bigger???
