Not enough time to cram in everything. I have been turning on and off since I was about 15. My first pieces were a rocket ship body and a baseball bat. I used a lathe that was built by my grandfather. My son has it now. When I left school I dropped the wood working. I picked it up again when I was about 40. I got a used Craftsman lathe and started turning segmented bowls. Very simple stuff. Not very elegant but functional. I have been at it on and off since then. About 25 years ago I picked up a Delta variable speed lathe (DL-40). I thought it would be great but it turned out to be not so. It's serviceable but not the best to use. The problem is the electronics. If I am not careful it blows fuses. I cannot justify replacing it though. Recently I have been adding more interest to my turnings. I am certain that participation in this forum will add to my ability to turn out some nice pieces.
