• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Good morning, my name is Ron. I am a retired engineer retired in 2002. I have been woodworking (off & on) since I was eight years old. I do my woodworking/woodturning as a hobby and do not sell my work. I have done some segmented pens but as of yet I have not done a bowl. I am looking forward to gathering info to assist my endevers at segmented turning. My dad used to say, after he retired, I don't know how I ever found time to work because I'm so busy. Now I am the retired one and I understand exactly what he was saying as I never seem to find time do the work I want to do. Oh well, as long as I live another hundred years or so I'll be able to finish everything I have in mind to do. thanks for listening to me bloviate I look forward to hearing back from you.

Another Michigander! Yeah! Pens look like fun, but bowls can be very addicting. So many designs, patterns, wood combinations, it is endless. Just when you get a perfect design going, you find a ring that is cut to the wrong size- a design change opportunity. Have fun.

Ron, Under the learn a new word every day theory, you have provided me with a beauty. I had never seen or heard the word "bloviate." I looked it up and it will come in handy. It is a great word. It sounded like something new but it originated in the 1850s. I am also a retired engineer (electrical). You will find that many segmenters are either retired engineers or long time flat wodoworkers, or both. Also, many pilots. We also cannot figure out how we had time to work. I don't understand the retirees who just curl up and do nothing. Wayne

Pens are very beautiful and will give much attention to those people that are retired. They also keep exploring new knowledge that will keep them more upgraded with new designs.

Welcome to the group from another retiree.
I've always said you have to retire to something besides sitting and watching grass grow.
I'm a retired tool and die maker and CNC programer.

I'm also retired. Woodturning as a passion seems to be in the realm of retirees. Our AAW club, which meets in Blissfield, MI seems to attract a lot of older turners. I am a retired Civil Engineer. I live in Dundee, MI, with my wife and step daughter. I tend ot do all my woodturning during the winter, when yard work comes to a halt. Segmented turning is my favorite type of turning, since it makes me dredge up my training, involves math and a lot of detail. Although I have gotten a lot of satisfaction in recent years restoring antique furniture that we inherited from my in-laws. There is something special about hand cut dovetails, and the craftsmanship that went into work done a century ago.
