• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Plans for Lloyd's sled

Lloyd, there is a lot of talk lately about the sled you used during your open segment bowl class here in San Antonio last year. Are plans available for it?

Robert,

I've got good news for you. I've modified the design of the sled to make it safer, more accurate and easy-to build and today I'm working on a video tutorial and free printable plans on how to build it. I'm nearly done, but I'm using a new three-camera solution for the filming and so the editing is a bit time consuming. I think you're going to like the results, though, as I've come up with some ideas for speeding up the process of making sleds.

It was sure fun teaching this workshop and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone. Here's a couple pictures of the workshop. None of the members had ever made an open-segment bowl and one hadn't made a segmented bowl of any kind so it was great to see everyone have such good success.

Memories

Wow, those photos bring back good memories and fun. I ended up finishing my bowl and giving it to our Pastor's secretary who was so appreciative, tears came to her eyes. She is such a wonderful person and I love working with her almost everyday.
Can't wait to see the new sled. Woodcraft is planning to have me teach another segmented class and would love to promote segmented turning using it.

Possibility in February or March I will participate in the segmented demo to our club. Can't wait.

Hope 2015 brings many good things for you and your family and that the segmented turning world would benefit from your knowledge.

I have added the complete plans for the table saw sled to a new page that will have attachments found in various threads. CLICK HERE to open that page.

Hopefully, I am the only one who has printed out the plan sheets for the alignment for each segment angle for the corresponding segeasy plates and double checked the measurements. I found the 8 inch measurements for the holes to hold the fence block and the threaded inserts to be about 1/4" short consistently. Glad I measured.

If I print the document, the holes are exactly 8". The difference is that many printers automatically shrink the image. Some printers let configure the settings to not shrink the image and others do not.

However, it doesn't matter if it is 8" or not. But if it isn't 8", you can't use a tape measure along with the plans. Just drill the holes where the printed plan shows where to drill them and everything will turn out just fine.
