If I glue up a few different species & make a 1" wide board, would I just cut the segments the way SP says & then flip every other??
 
I would suggest you use Lamination Pro to define your 1inch wide board and set the repeating pair in LP to match the segment edge length in SP

First build the bowl in SP. If the chevron is to be the featured ring, build a featured ring bowl.
Use the Segment edge length for the chevron ring to establish the repeating pair size in Lamination Pro.
Build your laminate in LP, and make your chevron.
you can export an image from LP to make it a species to be used in SP for your ring.

Having a bit of a problem visualizing how you plan to glue up a 1 inch laminate to make a chevron.
 
It's clear in my mind (probably wrong, but clear) . So if I glue up 3 different species to make a strip 36" long & 1" wide, with 3 or 4 different species. How would I include that in my plans ? Would I just tell SP that my feature row is 1" and cut & flip each piece?? I want to make a bowl with a multi species feature ring. Are you sure you can't download your brain into a flash drive??
 
Would I need to build it in LP or can I just glue up a multi species ring 1" wide & cut it to the specs in SP??

Seems to me you are making a laminate to be able to create a chevron for a featured ring. SP will tell you in the summary how long of a board you need to cut the number of segments to make the ring.

yes, you would tell SP the featured ring is 1" tall.
not sure how you are going to cut the board to make the chevron.

Step 1. design your bowl in Segment Pro or Woodturner Prol
Step 2 (to help you out attach the plan so it can be reviewed.
at a minimum tell me the diameter of the featured ring. I already know you want it to be 1" tall.

making chevrons is cutting a laminate board into strips at some angle. The width of the strips is determined by what the segment edge length is for the featured ring. A one inch wide board may not be wide enough to do what you want to do.
