I have had this for a long while now but pretty sick for a while I have cancer longe story short I like the software and started drawing on it again but having a problem that when I’m done with a drawing of the grid work I can’t or don’t know how to print it out have tried everything I could think of and didn’t work I watched the Tori’s over and over and did not see it . And was wondering if I could get some HELP with that Thank you very much.

I like to have a single Word document that has all the information about a project in one place. I start with the picture I used as the inspiration to create my wall outline.

Once I use Segment Pro or Woodturner Pro to design the segments and rings, I grab the various parts of the screen with the Sniper and paste them into the big doc.

I export the summary table to Excel where I clean up the sheet to my liking and move it as a table into the big doc.

In reality, the big doc is just for record-keeping in case I want to reproduce the project some day but I really use the spreadsheet in the shop. I sort by board width, cutting segments from the boards, widest first.

Later, I sort by SEL or OD as a guide when I make the rings.

Different people use the program results in different ways so there is no actual 'Print' button.

Did this help?

Ken has a good suggestion.

I have used the windows screen capture the profile. You can then past it in Word or a graphic program to print out.

Ken - How do you export to excel? I have been using snipping tool to capture and paste to one document as well. I would really like to get the summary into excel so I could manage it the way I want.

Thanks in advance,

In Segment Pro:
1. Set up your parameters and draw your wall OD. This designs your rings and segments.
2. Click the 'Summary' tab to show the SP version of the data table.
3. Click the 'Export' button. This lets you pick a disk location and a file name for the new spreadsheet. The file will be created or overwritten as appropriate and Excel will open that file.

I always create another page and copy the first page to it. I edit the second page, leaving the page SP made alone. Then when I irrevocably mess up my editing, I still have the original data. (Yes I learned this the hard way) Don't forget to save the edited file before you leave. (Don't ask!)

In WoodTurner Pro:
1. Design your rings and segments as desired.
2. Find the spreadsheet icon near the upper left corner of the ring view. If you hover the cursor over it, 'Summary View' will show as the hint. When you click the icon, the WP version of the data table will show.
3. Now click the 'File' tab in the upper left side of the screen and you will now see the item 'Export to Excel (CSV)...'
4. Click 'Export to Excel (CSV)...' to pick a disk location and a file name for the new CSV (comma separated variable) text file. The file will be created or overwritten as appropriate and Excel should open that file.

Again I edit a copy of the original page to organize what I want then save the file.

After removing the columns I don't need, I add a column that multiplies the SEL by the cosine of the angle on one end of a segment to give me the number to set the DRO on my fence-mounted stop block. My pocket scale and calipers can stay in the toolbox! They don't, of course, because it's always smart to check the cut after an adjustment.

Why don't both programs work exactly the same way?, you might wonder. These two programs were written at very different times for slightly different users. Older Lloyd undoubtedly wanted to make an improvement in the newer code rather than just blindly repeat what Younger Lloyd did.

Does this help?

Got it thanks. Only thing I had to do is convert the numbers from text to number which is no problem.

I have been trying to figure out how to do this, thanks,

In Excel you can use the Paste Option feature.
- Select the text
- click on the cell you want to paste the "text" in
- right click and from the pop up chose either
the Paste Options icon with the clipboard 123. It will past the text as numbers

Or you can chose Paste Specical
select values, and what other parameters you need.

Thank you, I appreciate the reply. I was able to use snipping tool and paste to excel and convert from text to number then pasted screen print of my bowl and all pertinent data to the spreadsheet. Worked great. See working sheet I carry to shop. All information I need is there.

You'll be glad to know that in the new Segment PRO - Turbo Edition, the data will transfer to Excel as numbers, not text.

It's not quite done yet and I still have to make the video tutorials but I'm shooting for a month from now. I'll be sending out a newsletter to everyone who is registered for the Forum to let you know that the software is available. I showed it at SWAT in Waco, TX this past weekend and all of my customers that saw it can't wait to start using it.

It will be a free upgrade. This simply shows that I am not the smartest businessman in the room.

Thank you Lloyd, can't wait.

I just downloaded the software a couple of weeks ago and really like it. Worth the money.

You may not be the smartest businessman, but you are definitely one of the best.
