Segments don't fit

Hello, I'm trying to do a 48-segment bowl again. I'm using the Tom Lohman pattern and trying to skip two and then come back and put them in. The problem I have is they don't fit. From Wood Turner Pro I have -Width .74-- SEL .235 ---Anngle 3.75 ---Diameter outer 3.6 --- Inner 1.9

I have checked the SEL to make sure they are right on, from center to outer setting it at 1.8

Doing something wrong what you don't know you don't know.

Thank You for any help

Are you using an index wheel (driskell jig) set up like Tom Lohman uses?

How is your options set in WTP? Are you set for imperial decimal inch or metric. The other options do a rounding to nearest fraction.

As the segment count goes up so does the cumulative error. That said, Tom in one of his videos shows how he does a dry fit. Don't remember exactly which one.
- Tom will make minor adjustments to the stop block settings. In your example you are looking to build a 3.6" OD ring. The segments as cut may actually create a slightly larger or smaller ring. So the stop block would need to be set for the actual OD.
- Once the stop block is set, I noticed Tom will try different pairs to wedge into place between the glued segments. If the pair is too tight, he does a light sanding to the segment to get it to fit.
- If the segments are too loose, the OD is too large. if the segments are too tight the OD is too small and needs to be increased.

Thanks for responding, using Tom Lohman set up, and decimal inch.

Will try what you recommend, glue down a couple of segments then see how they fit.
Then adjust my OD.

Will cut some segments with different SEL, I noticed one of Tom's videos has thinner and thicker segments.

Thanks for the help
Mike

Good video, Watch it many times :)
It's going better have found out that 2-3 thousands make a difference in the fitting of the segments.
Thank You
