Hi all, I want to design a segmented bowl with a company logo and I was wondering if any of the woodturner pro programs would allow my to use a cad drawing somehow to build the logo for me , let's say?

3DDP can import an image file (jpeg, bmp). The image is used to assist in drawing the profile of a vessel.
WTP allows the import of images mainly as a species for featured rings so one can see how the design would look on the bowl.

Neither give instructions on how to build the design. WTP gives information on how to build the vessel.

Can't really give much more advice without knowing what the logo looks like.

A standard segmented bowls is made from rings that are rotated by 50% from the lower ring. This makes it difficult to use painted segments to make characters or images. The greater the number of segments makes this less of an issue just as it does with pixel images where a greater resolution of pixels makes it easier to provide greater detail.

Since my software targets standard segmented bowls, you won’t find much that will help you with this issue because there isn’t really anything I can do to make it easier to do.

Using basket illusion to decorate a standard segmented bowl can help you achieve this, though, because the grid you create will be made from rows that aren’t rotated. This lets you make straight horizontal and vertical designs.

Michael Earley posted a basket illusion bowl in the gallery a couple days ago which you can see at this link:
