• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Segmented Urn Pattern

Pretty easy.
For WTP. Just save the attached wtp file in the post to any folder on your harddrive. When you installed WTP it should have created a folder in your Document folder called My Woodturner Pro. You can save the wtp file there. Start WTP go to the folder and select the file. It should open in WTP,

SP is a bit different. Download the json file from the post and save it to a location of your choice. SP also made a folder in Documents called My Segment Pro. If you want safe the attached json file there. Then start SP, go to Share Import. You should get a message that says, plan successfully imported. Then go to Plans, find the file and select it. It should open in SP,

Have fun.
Thanks, got it...I should have known how to do that.

No problem.
WTP and SP are different in the database type.
Working on the detailed instructions for the featured ring.

I opened the files in WTP without a problem. I can see the plan in SP, but it shuts the program down when I try to open it.

The SP file shutting the program down may be an issue for Lloyd to address.

I will give it a try and see what is up. Give me a few minutes.

I dowloaded the json file I posted. deleted the plan from SP and it opened ok in SP. One thing that might be the issue is the palate differences

Try downloading the jpg cross and copy it to your MySegmentPro/species folder. See if that cures the problem.

Also. I would recommend using one of the WTP plans for your cut list. The WTP plans were developed to ensure a good glue line between rings.

I planned already to use WTP because I am quite familiar with it. Thanks for all your help...I am so grateful!

Based on the WTP Urn Summary sheet the Cross featured ring measures.
1 5/8” Thickness (Tall), 3/4” Board width (width), and 2 7/16” Segment Edge Length (wide)

The cross is made by assembling three pieces. The center section and the left and right arm. These pieces are made by assembling a laminate for the center and for the two sides.

Cross Center Section:
cut 2 strips of yellowheart 3/4"thick, by 1/4" wide and about 14" long,
cut 1 strip of purple heart 3/4 thick by 1 1/8 wide and about 14" long
Glue the yellowheart to top and bottom of the purpleheart. to make the center laminate
After it is dried cut the laminate into 12 pieces that are 3/4" wide, x 1/4" x 1 5/8 tall.

*error on the side of longer for your laminate. it is good to have spare material.

Cross Arm Section:
cut a strip of yellowheart 3/4" thick by 1/2" wide and about 18" long
cut a strip of yellowheart 3/4" thick by 7/8" wide and about 18" long
cut a strip of purpleheart 3/4" thick by 1/4" wide and about 18" long
glue the yellowheart to the top and bottom of the purple heart to make the arms.
After it is dried cut the laminate into 24 pieces that are 3/4" by 1/4" by 1 5/8 tall

Glue the arms pieces to the center. Check to make sure the arms line up.
Sand the completed segment

Side Fillers
Cut a stip of yellowhear 3/4" thick by 1 5/8 wide and about long
Cut the yellowheart strip into 24 ea blocks of 3/4"x 1 1/2 wide by 1 5/8 tall

Glue the end fillers to the block that makes up the cross.
When cured sand to make sure its flat
mark the center of the cross.

Mark the center of the cross and measure out 1.2 inches on either side. The segment edge length is 2.4" for the ring. (2" 13/32)
Miter the two ends so you end up with a 2.4" SEL.

Hope this makes sense.
I would error on the side of making your laminates longer than needed. Spare material is good to have.

Thanks so much for this...you are so awesome!

The SP file that MFisher attached crashes the application after import for me.

The SP file has been deleted from this thread.
The cause is most likely a problem with the pallets being different.
Use the WTP files

I suspect the issue is the cross species was not added to SP before importing the file. Sorry for the problem.
