• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

WTP question

I have been trying for a few days for a way to show a ring made up of 2 different woods that have a laminated piece on every other wedge. Using wenge and padauk that have a 1/4 in holly laminate, but segments are flipped every other segment with spacers in between of holly. I can show the laminate going all the way around but can't figure how to show every other segment, sort of like a greek key. Not sure if I am explaining it correctly. Any help would be appreciated. Love WTP btw.

Not quite visualizing the segment patter you are wanting to produce. I know what the greek key pattern is.
Is the wtp test1.jpg somewhat of the pattern you were looking to create?

if so, I went into LP and created a laminate of 1/2" wenge, 1/4 holly and 3/4" padauk. I then exported the image. I brought the image into a graphic program and flipped it and saved. If you don't have a graphic program, you could create a new laminate in LP and just switch the dimensions of the wenge and padauk (3/4" wenge, 1/4 holly, 1/2 padauk.

In WTP I went to Options and create new wood species for the two images. You can alternate with wood species. I then added a 1/8th inch spacer of holly.

the test1.wtp is a simple WTP file with the ring.

Than you for your reply. Perhaps this will explain it better. Just want to know if WTP is capable of doing this so it shows on the plan, otherwise its a note to self to remember to assemble it this way

Yes, you can do that in WTP.
In WTP you just need to add 2 new species (wenge and padauk)
Then select the segment and paint it with the new species.
Add spacers of holly

Yes!! Thank you so much. I did it with your first post about using LP, took some playing as I haven't use it that much. I understand about the second method but not sure how to add the horizontal spacers on top and bottom of segment with adding a whole ring, anyway I got what I needed

There are just vertical spacers in WTP. There is no horizonal spacers. To get the horizontal "spacer" you would be gluing two boards into one.

You need to make a laminate for the wenge/holly and padauk/holly segment. Glue the wenge and holly together to make one board. The laminate board is then cut into segments. You would do the same for the padauk and holly. Then all you need to do is to cut vertical spacers out of holly.

The summary sheet in WTP will give you the length of board you need to be able to cut the number of segments needed for the ring.
What WTP won't tell you is how thick is the wenge and how thick is the holly. What WTP will tell you is how thick the laminate ring is.
