• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

UNHANDLED EXCEPTION

Richard,

As Mike said, I've been dealing with some health issues with my new (and first) grandson who is now a week old but has some heart issues. Things seem to be going better, though, Praise God!

I'll be glad to help you but I need for you to install Zoom video so that I can share your screen

If you have a laptop, you will already have a camera but if you have a desktop, you would need a web cam. If you don't have a web cam, we can use it without the webcam because we can still share your screen.

Once you have zoom installed, call me at 503-781-5117.

Thanks,
Lloyd

Richard,

It will also be best if you email me directly with your questions because I will be more likely to get your questions answered immediately. Send them to me at lloyd@woodturnerpro.com.

Also, if you wouldn't mind, call me and let me know where you stand now. That will save me some time.

Lloyd

The reason I need to share your screen is that you could get the error if there is a security setting that is preventing inter-process-communications which is the method by which Lamination PRO can transfer information to Woodturner PRO.

I promise you that there is nothing wrong with the software. This has worked flawlessly now for 15 years and it isn’t going to work for everyone else but not for you. I’m confident I can figure it out If I can share your screen.

There also is another option that I often use. Instead of clicking the ‘Transfer to Woodturner PRO‘ button, click the Export Image button and then save the image as a jpg to your Desktop (temporarily). Now switch to Woodturner PRO and add that image as a Custom Species by clicking on File > Options and following the instructions. Here’s the difference...

If you transfer it directly, it automatically gets added to the selected ring and it gets added as a species that is ONLY available to the plan you’re working on. It even gets saved when you do a File > Save. This image, though, doesn’t get added to your Species list and so can’t be used on any other project.

Adding it as a Custom Species adds it to your species list and will be there unless you no longer need it and delete It using File > Options. With this method you select the row you want and select this new species from the standard species list.

This isn’t as fast as the direct transfer but I use it for a different purpose. I have made a series of diamonds, SW designs, bird designs, etc. and when I save these as jpg files, I save them with a prefix of ‘lam - ‘ which keeps all of these designs together in the species list. Now, when I create a feature ring vessel, I can see what they look like with various designs in the feature ring.

I also have a reputation for making cremation urns rather quickly. When I do this, I give the person requesting it some printouts of different designs and what those designs will cost. I can make a single profile with a standard primary feature group and simply replace the design with one of three or four different options from simple chevrons to complex SW designs.

One thing about this - using either method, you can select the ‘stretch’ option that forces the design to fit whatever segment is targeted. This is GREAT for the design process, but you have to recreate the design in Lamination PRO in order to get the cutting summary correct. Once you get fluent at this, it takes a minute or two at most.
