• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

seg pro crash

I was trying to put together a cylindrical shape with straight sides to create a pattern for a basket illusion type beaded ring on a bowl. I laid out a straight side ring shape and a warning popped up saying it needs six points for that, then the program closes after clicking the okay, not allowing any corrections to be made. Is this a bug and whats the best way to do a project like this?

i got some results but inadvertently triggered the zoom function on the paint screen and cant find any toggle to unzoom it. Apparently you have to exit the screen to get it to return to default screen magnification.

Gary: I can't address your first question. That one will have to be for Lloyd. I have had SP crash a couple of times on me. I had no issue restarting SP.
It may be helpful to post the json file so we can take a look at exactly what you are doing.

As far as zoom in SP. My windows 10 mouse has a wheel. I can zoom in or out with it while in the paint mode.

another problem, when Im copying the image of the pattern to clipboard, i made a second pattern and tried to copy but the program was not clearing the clipboard and the first image kept coming back every time I tried to print the image on the second pattern. not sure what I can do on my end to force the computer to clear the clipboard.

I have a trackball without a wheel so that leaves me out.

Tell you what, Id love to see a toggle added to this program to set the ring segments not offset so you can make designs for basket illusion bowls, it comes so close. As it is Im trying out a faux segment beading to see how that looks.

One of the objectives in writing Segment PRO was to have a profile editor that allowed you to draw just the outside wall profile and specify the inside wall profile. The problem with this was that if too few dots were used, it was impossible to make an inside profile that made sense. This resulted in the need to have a minimum number of dots.

Making a cylinder is simply a matter of adding six dots in a vertical row. If you need the cylinder wider or narrower, just start clicking the Diameter More or Less buttons and changing the height. You can also just click the Clear button in the Profile window that keeps all of the design you’ve done but lets you create a new profile. It should take just a few seconds to do this.

As the only employee of the company and someone who has a LOT of outside commitments, I have very limited time for programming. It might be possible to use the software differently than how it was designed to be used but if it doesn’t do what you want, it is not likely to make the enhancements list.

I do hope to do some work with making it possible to do limited basket weave designs. I know what to do but am not sure how to find the time to do it.

Also, keep in mind that when you want to do things that are not standard, Woodturner PRO is the correct software to use. Segment PRO follows strict guidelines which is the only way that it can perform its tasks autonomously. Woodturner PRO has not autonomous features, though, so you are totally in control of everything that happens which means you can do things that Segment PRO will ever do.

Does Woodturner Pro do the painting of the segments? Thats why I was using Segment Pro because of the great features you built in to the paint routines.

- WTP allows you to paint segments. It is easy as selecting the different species for the segment. The only drawback is WTP does not have the paint window like SP. What I do for more complex patterns is to build the vessel in SP and paint the pattern. Because of the different database type you cannot import a SP or WTP project into each other.

I then go in and build the vessel in WTP using the SP summary sheet as a guide. I do whatever tweaks needed to the vessel in WTP. Once done I start up SP. I have had no problems having WTP and SP running at the same time on a pretty basic windows 10 pc. In SP I go to the "Rings Tab" and create the pdf file of the rings. I then use the Ring pdf as a guide to go in and paint the segments in WTP.

Painting segments in WTP can be done at the vessel view or ring view. I generally do it at the ring view. One word of caution is the segment numbering in SP may not match the segment numbering in WTP. So pick a starting point and just match up the pattern.
